The Easier, Softer Way

Easier, softer way is fast, immediate

Quick to feel good, find relief.

It comes without substance or sustenance,

No power or momentum,

No curiosity or discovery.

It is a stage show of overpromise and under-delivery.

A predictable outcome.

Deep reward and purpose

Is not hard, but it isn’t easy.

It is not sharp, neither is it soft.

It’s not bitter, but it isn’t yummy.

It will not happen overnight – though I may need to sleep on it.

And while it takes effort, it also comes naturally.

So I keep my gaze ahead

As I pass by the easier, softer way.
