So Many Hugs
-A Tribute to Kayhi Class of ‘86
The side hug from armpit to hip
aligns our memories -
“It’s good to see you again!”
A gracious greeting
sincere, scripted, widely acceptable
even reconciliatory,
like brownies from a box mix
without the overinvestment of hugging from scratch.
The full embrace, arms folding each other in
gathering all the moments and years
with basic ingredients of genuine love
standing the test of time
like Grandma’s one of a kind dough
kneaded out
and baked to perfection around fresh berries.
The dancing hug, bouncing with joy
happy feet spinning
our bodies corkscrew open
a bottle of bubbling laughter
spilling over with bending sways,
champagne glasses full and raised:
we toast our years.
Each and every hug
delicious.
